Protecting Your Home When Living in a Burglary Hotspot.
If your in an area that has had a spate of burglaries recently and have been either lucky not to be a target so far, or have already been a target. It may be a good idea to install some internal security measures inside your home to delay intruders trying to break into your home, and give you time to call the police; if you are home and are awoken by an intruder breaking in, you should also consider turning on as many of the lights as you can near you, as this will put them off and they may give up and run away to avoid being caught.
With some of the double glazing doors the panel of glass can be removed and an intruder is able to reach inside and unlock the door from the keys left in the lock (providing this is the case). Usually all an intruder needs to break into your home is a sharp pointed object that they can rotate in a circular motion a certain amount of times until they have cut a circular shaped hole in the first part of the double glazed glass; the first one you won’t hear as they are fast and it’s usually done very quietly. But the second pane when removed will fall inwards and break on impact after falling on the floor; if they are a professional they may be able to remove it with a suction pad without it falling inwards and breaking on the floor.
You can also install security grills on the inside/outside of your front and back doors, and security shutters on the windows to keep you safe at night.
