? Types of alarm systems
??????????????????????????????????? Stand-alone: this is a simple ”bells only” system, which sounds when activation occurs.
?
These systems are used in residential and small businesses that do not hold valuable stock or other valuables.
A maintenance/ service agreement is not required but is recommended to ensure that the system continues to operate at its optimum level.
? Monitored systems: this is similar to the stand-alone system but is monitored by a monitoring station, 24hours a day, 365 days of the year.
When activation occurs, a signal is sent to the monitoring station, via your telephone line. The monitoring station then uses a key holder list, provided by yourselves, in order to alert you that alarm activation has occurred.
?
These systems are used in residential and small business where the key holder wishes to be alerted to alarm activation immediately.
To comply with regulations, a monitored system must have a maintenance/ service agreement in place, which includes two visits per year.
? Police response: any system that requires the police to be called out immediately, once activation occurs, must comply with the rules set out by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
These rules are designed to reduce false alarms by confirming activation through two separate sensors.
If only one sensor is triggered the monitoring company contacts the key holder only.
?
These systems are used in any premises that hold high levels of stock, valuables, cash or data sensitive storage.
To comply with regulations, the system must be monitored and a maintenance/service agreement must be in place, which includes two visits per year.
